During Label Congress, which opened on September 29, 2021, in Rosemont, IL, USA, Colordyne Technologies highlighted its 3800 Series UV – Retrofit and 2800 Series AP – Retrofit. Both digital inkjet print engines have been designed for label and packaging production. Earlier this year, Colordyne launched its second-generation UV inkjet technology. The engine was redesigned to deliver enhanced usability, quality and functionality. A few of the changes include a redesigned chassis and ink delivery system, inter-color pinning, software enhancements and added automation features. “Our retrofits allow customers to turn existing analog equipment into hybrid work-centers that can print digital, flexo and hybrid jobs based on the converter’s needs,” explains Katelyn Bohr, director of marketing at Colordyne. “We do this by mounting a digital print engine onto a new or existing flexo press, which allows the converter to still use the flexo press’ functionality, finishing and tooling. By retrofitting, converters can meet changing market demands for shorter-runs with less disruption to their current business and with a lower capital investment than a standalone solution.” Most recently, a Colordyne 3800 Series UV – Retrofit was installed at Nova Label, which will open up new markets for the Maryland-based converter. “We’ve seen a lot of success with our retrofit approach as it offers customers an alternative to purchasing a standalone solution,” says Bohr. “We will continue focusing on retrofit solutions for label converters and enhance the technology based on user feedback. One of the great things about retrofitting is that as we make upgrades, we always evaluate how to roll these enhancements out to customers who already have our technology installed.” At booth 84, Colordyne has been able to network with prospective customers looking to add digital printing to their arsenal. “We are excited to be meeting in-person with our customers, colleagues and partners at Label Congress this year,” states Bohr. “There is no replacement for in-person events because of the atmosphere it provides. We are enjoying the collaboration, insight and focus this type of event brings to our industry. “Our team has done a great job at pivoting during the pandemic,” she adds. “We’ve implemented new technologies to better support customers, as well as to engage with people interested in learning more about our technology remotely. We have also taken this opportunity to understand what our customers need going forward and make changes based on their feedback.” For those who were unable to attend Label Congress, they are encouraged to reach out to Colordyne’s team to learn more about its new technologies.
